Fake news began with young people in Veles that wanted to make money with advertising on facebook. They were not very interested in American politics, they advertised in the mid 2016 durning the 2016 elections with Donald trump they found a very hot topic on social media. Fake news is not just about Donald Trump but every important figure like the pope. Hillary Clianton, Bernie sanders and so on.
Information is a very powerful tool. The phase that has been said for ages is knowledge is power and that saying will always be true and real.
Fake news is anything that is being spread as a being true or just lies and misinformation. Fake news is very dangerous coming from anyone that uses them but most importantly the president of the United States. How i think people can combat fake news is being careful where they get the news, also every news or information they get they have to do their own research and verify the information. People when looking to verify information should use legit websites, journals, books and listen to experts. Also people need to understand not to take anyone verbatim always looking into what you are told. Learn from others and let them teach you, learn from the world and look into everything.
I think during this time what is more important in the public to get the right information and not letting the president spread wild and monstrutions stories.
the national news organizations should be covering politicians and non experts. The power of communication of the media is too big for some to handle spreading false information can have an impact on people greater than the media anticipes. During the Coronavirus pandemic the information that comes out from the news should be verified because a lot of people are looking and watching the news for information, on how to and how not to act, on when things will open and so on. The media enjoys more poking fun at Trump than understanding how his messages are affecting the people, especially now when so much information is coming out and people don’t know what to believe and what not to believe and who they should listen to.
I think at this point in time watching any news is a problem on any platform for me. I get my news from youtube like hill rising, tyt, the humanist report and so on. I stopped watching corporate media a long time ago because tha bia they have in the progessoive movement, and all the misinformation they spread, I also don’t like how they speak when speaking of a black person they say thug a white person doing the same thing is not called a thug, the images they use with the black community versus the white community. I also don’t go to social media such as facebook, Twitter and instagram for my news because i know they dont have control over what information is being spread and they do spread lies. I see the damage social media platforms like facebook spread misinformation has effects on people, i see it in my friends and family. A lot of people believe everything they see on facebook and i think that’s a problem but i also think that if it wasn’t facebook it could be anywhere else, they just want to believe anything, and don’t want to look beyond that because it helps with their narrative, their beliefs or culture.
